Send Jay your CDs. He'll play them!

Joan, Thanks for the article on these lovely ladies of song. You are the only person I know that
truly keeps the lives of female vocalists, composers and instrumentalists, and others in print.
If they send me music, I'll make sure they are featured on my show and other radio shows.

Dear
Subscriber,
This
month will go down in history because Americans
came out in huge numbers to elect the first Democratic
African American President. Yes
We Did!
Women in Jazz South Florida,
Inc. performed for 300+ students at AARLCC.
I was joined by seven superb musicians for the
first time, since I've been doing the Women
in Jazz presentation, in 1997. The
8-member ensemble truly enjoyed working together
and I am grateful for them all.
My
book tour begins November 8 at
BORDERS in Fort Lauderdale! I
will perform with pianist Brad Keller on Friday
November 7 and with Ben Collier on Saturday,
November 8, at CHRISTINE'S
RESTAURANT to celebrate the tour.
This
month, my guests on MUSICWOMAN
LIVE RADIO include folk singer/
composer Kaitlin McGaw and composer/flautist
Rubyana. Listen to all the archived shows
at this
link.

and jammed with Jimi Hendrix. She is recognized in the
Jazz community as an innovative composer,
improviser, performer and theoretician. Her jazz
CDs demonstrate her ability to transcend the
boundaries of conventional form. Rubyana's
compositions bridge twelve tonality with whole tonal
harmonic structures, rhythmic displacement and
universal rhythms. Rubyana resides in New York City.

music is nominated for several Grammy's this year:
Best Jazz CD Jaguar and Best Jazz
Single: Motherless Child.
