Christine's Hosts Women in Jazz Pre-Show Party Tuesday, March 3rd

Christine's Restaurant & Jazz Bar is joining forces with Southern Wine and Spirits on Tuesday, March 3rd, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., to "Keep the Music Playing", by hosting and sponsoring a pre-show kick off party for the upcoming Women in Jazz Ensemble performance to take place at the African American Research Library and Cultural Center on Saturday, March 7, 2009, 3:00 to 5:00 p.m.

Tuesday's March 3rd Event is dedicated to raising much needed funds to support women in jazz who perform on a regular basis to both educate and preserve the history of women musicians in America. We all share the vision of creating and constructing an physical archive dedicated to preserving women's achievements in music.

All are invited to share what will undoubtedly be a memorable evening full of fun, complimentary hors d'oeuvres and live music performed by Diva Joan Cartwright and Jus' Cynthia, accompanied by pianist Brad Keller and bassist John Catalano.

Christine's Restaurant & Jazz Bar has quickly become THE venue for the hottest live jazz and fine food in the Fort Lauderdale area, and this will be one more event not to be missed.

The program on March 7th will feature vocalists Jus' Cynthia and Diva Joan Cartwright, flautist Renee Fiallos and saxophonist Rochelle Frederick, working with a jazz trio, WOMEN IN JAZZ ON TOUR. The general public is invited to fill the 300-seat auditorium at AARLCC, during two, one-hour rehearsal/workshops, where the 7-member ensemble explores the lives of 11 women who brought jazz and blues music to the forefront of American popular culture and around the world. The women they portray include Alberta Hunter, Lil Hardin Armstrong, Marylou Williams, Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday.

Women in Jazz South Florida, Inc. is a non-profit organization that promotes women musicians, globally. Membership forms will be available. For more information, visit the website - www.wijsf.org

The African-American Research Library and Cultural Center, located at 2650 Sistrunk Blvd., Fort Lauderdale, is a general-service library, as well as a research facility and cultural center containing more than 75,000 books and related materials that focus on the experiences of people of African descent.
Enjoy a thrill this weekend. Travel to Christine's Restaurant and Jazz Bar and escape the ordinary.
